SOUTHWESTERN ASSOCIATION OF TECHNICAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATORS

The Southwestern Association of Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI) was formed in 1982 to promote traffic accident reconstruction throughout the southwestern area if the United States. The association was created as a spin-off of the Washiington Association of Technical Accident Investigators, brought to Arizona by Jim Goodwin.

Officers from several Arizona local police agencies along with attorneys from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office met over the course of a year developing and implementing this non-profit corporation.

SATAI currently has over 375 members. The association holds three training meetings per year in the southwest area, with our annual meeting held in Phoenix Arizona. Each two day training meeting provides excellent instruction on accident investigation and reconstruction concepts. SATAI also provides a staged collision every year (sometimes twice a year) for the benefit of its members. No additional fees other than annual dues are required to attend these meetings.

SATAI is one of the original sponsoring organizations of ACTAR.
